The Honey Badger Saloon, Bad Badger (7/10)

Smoked African spiced pork belly, portobello mushroom steeped in garlic umami cream sauce with a melting honey crisp served on a bretzel mealie bread bun. Snake venom dipping sauce and Ghana Chin Chin chips ($24). Unfortunately I didn't read the description before I got here or I would have seen that this was a slice of slow cooked pork belly. A very generous portion, which included the fatty bit with the skin. However, - No pattie = No burger. But man it was tasty. Fatty, salty, sweet, spice. Great umami with the smoky, mushroom and the creamy sauce. Bun could have been bigger as there was a bit of filling to handle, otherwise, good proportions. Spicy Snake Venom Sauce was quality heat - go full badger and add to the burger. I also added the honey crisps to the burger for a full experience. A one-off for Wellington on a Plate (although they are not part of the competition). However, they are a burger joint and their menu is pretty good. Full review will follow
